Development Threat to Vinters Nature Reserve must be beaten6.05.00pm GMT Sat 4th Nov 2006 Local residents are up in arms over a Planning application for 142 dwellings, in blocks 4 and 5 storey high, on land forming part of Maidstone Studios on Vinters Park. Liberal Democrat Councillors, Dave Naghi, Patrick Sellar and Margaret Featherstone with Boxley Parish Council and residents from East and Boxley Wards are united in opposing this development, recently lodged with the Council without any prior consultation.
Lib Dem Borough Councillor Dave Naghi says, "It is absolutely essential this appalling application is defeated. Not only is it totally out of keeping with any other development in our area, if approved there would be a massive increase in traffic in an area which is already severely congested. If approved, it would also set a precedence for further applications on the adjacent site, and even parts of the playing fields used by local schools. It would also have a serious effect on the management of the Nature Reserve." Important Notice It should be noted that the views expressed in this news story are those of the named councillors and of East Ward Liberal Democrats and, whilst constituting a strong strand of opinion, they do not commit members of the Borough Planning Committee to a course of action. Members of the Planning Committee will, at the time of determination, weigh ALL of the evidence put before them before forming an opinion. This is a requirement of government codes of practice and will be strictly adhered to and applies to all political parties.
